Cell-ID Annual Scientific Meeting – 2025 recap
From September 10 to 12, 2025, the Cell-ID community gathered at the Institut Jacques Monod in Paris for its Annual Scientific Meeting. Over three days, researchers from across Europe and beyond came together to share their latest findings, exchange ideas, and strengthen the collaborative spirit at the heart of Cell-ID.
The next Cell-ID Annual Scientific Meeting should take place on June 18–19, 2026 in Montpellier.

Highlights from the Program
The meeting offered a rich mix of scientific talks, training sessions, and interactive workshops:
- Creative Communication Workshop – Led by Carla Molins-Pitarch with Cell-ID communications officers Ana Garre Debiès and Marie Origas, this hands-on session invited PhD students and postdocs to explore new ways of sharing their science through haikus, visual metaphors, and storytelling.
- Training Journeys for PhDs and Postdocs – Jonas Krebs & Damjana Kastelic (Centre for Genomic Regulation, Barcelona) reflected on how training can support researchers at different stages of their careers.

Participatory Science – Leïla Périé (Institut Curie) highlighted the importance of involving researchers and society in shaping scientific practices.
Ethics of Research on Human Organoids – Hervé Chneiweiss (Sorbonne Université) shared insights from the HYBRIDA project, sparking an engaging discussion on the ethical dimensions of organoid research.
Cells, Tissues & Organs – Assembling the Human Cell Atlas – Sarah Teichmann (Cambridge Stem Cell Institute) delivered a keynote on how cutting-edge single-cell genomics is transforming our understanding of human biology.
Inter-PEPR Session – Stéphanie Descroix (PEPR MED-OOC) and Franck Simon (PEPR Santé Numérique) showcased synergies between national research programs.
Inside the Cell-ID Program
Dedicated sessions provided an overview of the progress achieved in each Cell-ID targeted project:
- Cell Context – Highlight by Céline Vallot
- Cell Exp – Highlight by Alain Chédotal
- Data & Med – Highlights by Thomas Walter and Cédric Maurange
- Cell Next – Flash talks by PhD students and a presentation of new recruits, underlining the importance of training the next generation of scientists.
These exchanges reflected the breadth of Cell-ID’s ambition: from deciphering the mechanisms of cellular identity to developing tools for data integration and building future research directions.

Posters and Awards
The poster session was once again a highlight, with young researchers presenting their cutting-edge work in a lively and collaborative atmosphere. Congratulations to this year’s Best Poster Award winners:
- Camille Bacquié
- Iris Unterweger
- Anna Schwager
Looking Ahead
The meeting was a celebration of science, creativity, and collaboration, made possible thanks to the dedication of the Cell-ID management team – Thérèse Wilhelm, David Sitbon, and Susana Abreu Ribeiro – and the support of the communications team.
We thank all participants, speakers, and our hosts at the Institut Jacques Monod for making this edition a success.
